MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
As stated in article 3 of the statute, membership of the MASP shall consist
of full members, honorary
members and associate members:
- FULL MEMBERS – doctors with a specialist training
and a qualification in psychiatry recognised by the MASP. The guiding criterion
shall be that the higher postgraduate psychiatric qualification held is recognised
to practice as a specialist in the country where it was conferred
- HONORARY MEMBERS – proposed by the Executive Council
(hereinafter referred to as EC) at a General Meeting (hereinafter referred
to as the GM). The EC may propose for honorary membership any medical practitioner
who in the opinion of the EC, merits such recognition. Honorary members shall
be eligible to attend all GMs but shall not be eligible to vote or hold office
- ASSOCIATE MEMBERS - shall be those doctors pursuing a course
of studies leading to psychiatric qualification. Associate members shall be
eligible to attend all meetings but shall not be eligible to vote or hold
office
Members shall pay an enrolment fee and an annual subscription fee as specified
in Appendix 1 of the MASP statute.
Members may resign fourteen days after notifying the Secretary in writing of
their intention.
Members may be suspended if they fail to comply with Article 3 (iii) and Appendix
1 of the MASP statute. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to notify members
in default of payment. A member so suspended may be re-instated by the EC upon
complying with the above.
